2026 National Latino AIDS Awareness Day

Join us Friday, October 16, 2026, in downtown Sacramento from 6-8 PM in honor of National Latino AIDS Awareness Day as the Latino community mobilizes to promote effective ways to prevent, treat, and stop the spread of HIV among Latinos. This year’s focus is to promote HIV testing in the Latino community. Latinos represent 19% (1 in 5 people) of the U.S. population but account for 34% (1 in 3 people) of all new HIV diagnoses. This gap in diagnosis delays access to life-saving treatment and increases the risk of unknowingly transmitting the virus. With this in mind, NLAAD’s theme for this year is “Should I get tested for HIV? Yes!”.

Enjoy delicious Hispanic food, Latin music and mingle with local vendors in the beautiful Casa de Español Courtyard. A program will include a special showing of a traditional Novela that addresses HIV stigma and the use of PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) by REACH LA: “El Chakal de Mi Corazón.” Attendees will be able to participate with local community providers in a Q&A after the show. Free HIV testing will be provided by Golden Rule Services throughout the event.
