About Sunburst Projects
ABOUT US
Sunburst Projects is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with offices located in Sacramento, California that serves individuals from the greater Sacramento region. Sunburst provides a variety of social and mental health services to individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Our Mission
Sunburst Projects serves the needs of the HIV/AIDS community through compassionate care and services.
Our Vision
Sunburst Projects’ goal is to promote health, wellness and social justice through services that strengthen and empower individuals and families to ensure those living with and/or affected by HIV/AIDS reach their highest potential.
Sunburst Projects initially specialized in serving children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. In 2020 we expanded to serve all individuals who are living with or affected by HIV/AIDS including men, women, families, youth and the Sacramento HIV community as a whole. We also opened our first full service mental health clinic. Today, we serve 350 individuals in Northern California. Our programs include medical case management, mental health services, social support services, child care assistance, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, enrollment in ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program), support groups, and more.
Our Core Values
Our work is based on a set of core values that inform how we carry out our day-to-day activities:
- We focus on the quality of life and not the disease itself, and strive to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS are not subject to discrimination.
- We believe that as an agency, we are all responsible for the health and emotional wellbeing of our clients, yet the issue is not ours alone; governments, communities and society as a whole must also be held accountable.
- We practice compassionate listening and non-judgmental communication.
- We strive to provide services delivered with flexibility, personalized attention and cultural sensitivity.
- We strive to promote self-sufficiency and empowerment.
At Sunburst Projects, every person’s rights are respected without regard to race, creed, color, age, sex, gender, gender identity, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry, national origin, physical or mental handicap, or immigration status.
If you or someone you know is living with HIV/AIDS or is affected by it and needs a safe and supportive resource, Sunburst Projects is here to help. Please feel free to contact us. All inquiries are strictly confidential.

Please help us maintain and improve our programs by supporting us in any way you can. We need you. But more importantly, our clients need you; their lives are positively enhanced by your efforts.
